DR. IRA MERKEL
Medical Director
One of the founding partners of the RWJ Endosurgical Center, Dr. Merkel holds positions as the Medical Director, Chairman of the Medical Executive Committee and President of the Board of Managers. He is actively involved with the daily operations of the center and provides support to the leadership team. Dr. Merkel completed his Internal Medicine residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, and his Gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh.
CAROL POPPITI
Administrator and Director of Nursing
Carol Poppiti began her career at the RWJ Endosurgical Center in 2001 as a PACU nurse before transitioning into a leadership role as Director of Nursing. Her role expanded in 2013 as she accepted a dual position as Director of Nursing and Administrator. Carol has led the team in providing multi-specialty services to the community while obtaining TJC accreditation and maintaining State and regulatory compliance. Being acknowledged as Regent Surgical Health’s Director of Nursing and Administrator of the Year are just two of her many accomplishments. Overall, RWJ Endosurgical Center has won four clinical excellence awards under her leadership. Ms. Poppiti possesses 30 years of nursing experience, including 15 as a critical care nurse and obtained her BSN from the College of New Jersey.
LINDA REID
Business Office Manager
Linda Reid has been the Business Office Manager at RWJ Endosurgical Center for the past seven years. Since joining the RWJ Endosurgical Center in 2012, Ms. Reid has epitomized the company’s core values of respectful caring, integrity, stewardship and efficiency and this has led to her being named Regent Surgical Health’s Business Office Manager of the year twice. Linda is responsible for multiple daily business operations including Revenue Cycle Management, Accounts Payable and Credentialing. She provides daily leadership and support to the business office staff. Prior to joining RWJ Endosurgical Center, Linda worked as an Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Nursing for 12 years.
